Recognising the value of professional development, Multicap’s Emerald team has recently taken their learning and growth to a new level.

Six support workers from Emerald proactively found an in-person training opportunity to gain a Certificate III in Individual Support.

With encouragement and support from Multicap leadership, the team commenced this training while balancing work commitments and continued support for their customers.

Multicap Service Manager Chloe was thrilled to see her team embrace the opportunity.

“Having completed this certificate myself though Multicap’s apprenticeship program, I know how valuable it is for individual growth and the entire team’s ability to provide quality support,” Chloe said.

“Through careful planning and collaboration, these six support workers ensured that training commitments didn’t impact the people they support,” she said. “It was fantastic to see how proactive they were, finding the right training provider, working together to manage their shifts, and making sure they could complete their studies without impacting the support we provide.”.

The teams dedication paid off and now more than 90% of the Emerald workforce holds a Certificate III in Individual Support.

Chloe said the benefits of this achievement are already visible.

“We’re seeing real improvements in key areas like incident reporting, human rights considerations, and a stronger focus on customer choice and control,” Chloe said.

“For a regional service, having a highly skilled team is invaluable, fostering peer-to-peer support, leadership, and an even higher quality of service.

“This is a huge achievement for our team, and I couldn’t be prouder. Their commitment to learning and professional development will have a lasting impact on the people we support,” Chloe said

Working for a disability services organisation is more than a job; it’s a profound opportunity to make a tangible, positive impact in the lives of others.
