Multicap’s Circle of Support Forums are helping shape how services enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities.
Multicap regularly hosts both face to face and online sessions across eight different locations in Queensland and Victoria to gather valued feedback from families and support networks.
The Forums are designed to offer a friendly environment and promote open discussion between families and Multicap’s leaders.
Multicap Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Hanson said the Forums have a strong connection to Multicap’s history and support continuous improvement.
“Multicap was founded more than 60 years ago by families wanting better support for their children, so maintaining these strong connections with families is engrained in our values,” said Andrew. “The families and support networks offer a wealth of knowledge and passion that we want to stay connected with to ensure our services are meeting the needs of the people we support.
“The forums offer a comfortable space to open lines of communications and build strong supportive relationships between our service delivery teams and the families and people we support.
“The feedback gathered is incorporated into our planning to ensure we continually improve our services and deliver on our purpose,” he said.
Multicap Regional Manager Brisbane South, Kellie Sentinella facilitated the Eight Mile Plains Forum and it helps ensure customers are at the centre of everything that is done.
“It’s important for my team to know what we are doing well and what we may need to improve. We want to ensure we don’t develop blind spots and operate with transparency and trust,” said Kellie.
Some families emphasised that it makes a difference to speak directly to someone from the executive leadership team.
“Asking questions and sharing my thoughts with the people in charge not only avoids miscommunication but also allows me to get the information I need within seconds,” said a family member.
Another important aspect of these forums is the unique opportunity for families to develop a connection with other families and carers that might share similar experiences.
“To know that other parents are going through similar experiences, helps me to keep going without feeling so lonely,” said a parent.
