As a newcomer to the Multicap school holiday program, little Aurora naturally felt nervous.
But within minutes of arriving and meeting staff, the five-year-old felt at ease.
“The carers were very welcoming and warm, and she instantly felt at ease,” Aurora’s mum Jeleacha said.
Aurora was one of more than 100 young people to join in the fun of the Multicap winter school holiday program, held at nine locations across the state.
Playing with slime and an excursion to an animal farm were Aurora’s favourite activities.
“Aurora could not stop talking about how much fun she had playing with slime and meeting different animals at White Ridge Farm”, said Jeleacha.
But having fun was just one of the many benefits.
“The program has helped Aurora to learn and practise coping mechanisms when she is away from me. She has learned to adjust and adapt to the environment and her surroundings, feeling safe and comfortable without me around.”
“Multicap staff went the extra mile to ensure that Aurora felt included and a part of the Multicap family.”
Jeleacha said she instantly connected with Multicap when looking for a suitable service provider for her daughter.
“The dynamics of their team, how much passion and love Multicap staff have when explaining what they do, and what they can offer to a little person with such high needs, won me over!”
“Being a single mother of one little person who requires so much care, there is no limit to their supports. I will continue to stay connected to this service, Multicap have touched my daughter’s heart, as well as mine!”
