Festive fun at annual Christmas Carols and Markets

Christmas spirit was in full swing as the annual Christmas Carols and Markets event brought joy and festive cheer to the community.

The Christmas Carols and Markets were held at Multicap’s Eight Mile Plains campus on Saturday, 7 December 2024.

The day commenced with a heartfelt Welcome to Country performed by Songwoman Maroochy, who set a respectful and inclusive tone for the festivities.

Jess Holbrok kicked off the musical acts, captivating the audience with her amazing voice. Our incredible Centre of Creative Arts (COCA) Dance Group and Music Therapy crew also took the stage, showcasing their talent and creating smiles all around.

The Redland Rhapsody Chorus returned this year, singing their amazing harmonies and setting the stage for the Ipswich Big Band, who brought enthusiasm and cheer with their performance.

Away from the stage, the petting zoo was a hit with attendees of all ages, and free activities such as face painting, cookie and ornament decorating, and a treasure hunt kept children entertained.
The day concluded with a visit from Santa, who handed out many presents from the raffle draw, ensuring the evening ended on a high note.

Multicap CEO Simon Wright was thrilled to experience the Carols for the first time since joining Multicap in June.

“The Christmas Carols and Markets are a wonderful opportunity for the people we support to experience festive fun in a familiar and accessible environment,” said Simon.

“We are passionate about contributing to an inclusive community where everyone feels valued and respected. It was pleasing to witness all attendees sharing in the festivities and developing new connections within our community,” Simon said.

Simon had the pleasure of working with Santa to announce the winners of the raffle prizes, experiencing the joy of giving.
