Leading disability service provider Multicap is proud to announce the official opening of its new Roma Community Hub in the Maranoa region.
This state-of-the-art facility aims to foster inclusivity and bring people together by providing a safe and welcoming environment for people with disabilities to connect, learn, and engage with the broader community.
Multicap Chief Executive Officer Simon Wright, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce our Roma Community Hub, a facility designed to meet the evolving needs of the Maranoa region.”
“This hub exemplifies our commitment to supporting local people with disabilities by offering them a comfortable and accessible space to learn, grow, and connect,” he said.
The Roma Community Hub will offer a diverse range of programs and activities for all ages, including social experiences, outdoor adventures, cooking classes, music and singing, trivia, arts and crafts and more.
These programs are designed to enhance the quality of life for participants, provide respite to families and promote community engagement.
The new facility will complement Multicap’s existing services in the region, which include Supported Independent Living, In-home Support, and Community Access Services, supporting over 30 locals in the community living with a disability.
A recent report from ABC highlighted a significant rise in the number of people with disabilities living in remote or very remote areas of Queensland, showing a notable increase over the past few years. According to the advocacy group Outback Independent Living, individuals with disabilities in urban areas typically receive better support compared to those in rural and remote regions.
Local resident Krislea Eldridge, whose three daughters receive support from Multicap, is excited about the new hub.
“Having access to a Multicap Community Hub will be a great tool for development for my girls, particularly in terms of life skills,” Krislea said.
“We are looking forward to connecting with other community members and taking full advantage of what the new service has to offer.”
Multicap’s Community Hubs are creating spaces where people can come together and thrive.
The Multicap Roma Community Hub is located at 48 Arthur Street, Roma.
